Biography

Dr. Anna Resnick Henson was appointed adjunct instructor of bassoon at ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app City University in Fall 2006. In addition to teaching Bassoon at the Bass School of Music, she also teaches a Woodwind Methods class in the spring.

Anna received her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of North Texas, her Masters in Bassoon Performance from Boston University, and Doctorate in Bassoon Performance from University of ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app. Anna’s principal teachers include Betty Johnson, Kathleen Reynolds, Richard Svoboda, Matthew Ruggiero, and Carl Rath.

Anna plays often with the Tulsa Symphony and played a yearlong stint as Principle Bassoonist of the Arkansas Symphony during the 2005-2006 season. She has also played with the Monterrey, Mexico Symphony on multiple occasions. In recent years, she has performed with the Wichita Grand Opera, New Bedford Symphony, Newton Symphony, the Flower Mound Chamber Orchestra, East Texas Symphony and the San Angelo Symphony. During 2003-2004, Anna spent 18 months in Israel, and has played with many members of the Israeli Philharmonic and the Jerusalem Symphony.

In addition to her work at the Bass School of Music, Anna has spent time teaching elementary music and maintains a thriving bassoon studio in the ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app City Metro. She grew up in the area and has enjoyed a long relationship with ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app City University, from performing with the Children’s Choir at the age of 12, through her high school years with the ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app Youth Orchestra. Anna recently got married and enjoys long-distance running, spending time with her family, attending multi-cultural events and, of course, making bassoon reeds.

Anna has played on numerous recordings with the North Texas Symphonic Band and the North Texas Wind Symphony.
