Biography
Tye Love, professor of Dance, holds a Master of Fine Arts in Dance and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ballet Performance from the University of ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app. He currently serves as the Assistant Artistic Director for the Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment. Tye also serves as the Style Coordinator for Basic & Beyond Basic Movement Ballet, Partnering, Men's Technical Dance Studies, and is a member of the ballet faculty and pedagogy faculty. In the Spring of 2020, he received The Excellence in Teaching Award for Full-Time Faculty at ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app City University.
Tye received his training from master teachers John Magnus, Lisa Slagle, Mary Margaret Holt, and Ilya Kozadeyev. As a professional dancer, he had the opportunity to perform works by many legendary choreographers including George Balanchine, Agnes De Mille, Antony Tudor, and Gerald Arpino. As a company member with the ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app City Ballet, he originated the role of Hans/Nutcracker Prince in Robert Mills’ The Nutcracker and performed in new productions of The Wizard of Oz, The Phantom of the Opera, Paris Rouge, Mozart’s Requiem and all the classical repertoire, including Swan Lake, °ä´Ç±è±èé±ô¾±²¹, The Firebird, Napoli Divertissements and The Nutcracker. Tye was also featured in contemporary works by Jessica Lang, Alan Hineline, Robert Mills, and Margo Sappington. Additionally, he has performed as a guest artist with Ballet Ensemble of Texas, Springfield Ballet, Victoria Ballet Theatre, Collin County Ballet Theatre, and many other regional dance companies.
Love has been a recognized master teacher throughout the United States including the Joffrey Texas Workshop, Ballet Academy of Texas, and conventions including Dance Masters of Michigan and Dixie Dance Masters. In 2024, Love was appointed as a founding board member of ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app Performing Arts Collective, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the health and well-being of performing artists in ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app and beyond.
Love currently serves as a choreographer for ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app City University’s Star Dance Company and previously served as the choreographer for ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app City University’s Opera and Music Theatre Company’s performance of On the Town. Additionally, his choreography has been performed by Joffrey Texas, Summerwind Youth Ballet, OU Dance Young Choreographers’ Showcase, OU Dance SummerDance, and Alamo City Dance Company.
