Business Pitch Competition

Startup Sprint & Business Plan Pitch Competition

Round up four of your smartest friends for a shot at cash and scholarships from ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app City University’s Meinders School of Business (MSB). Join us for our Fall Startup Sprint & Business Plan Pitch competition on November 1st, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Compete with other high school teams from across the state and learn what it takes to develop a winning pitch from MSB. 

MSB professors, staff and current ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app business upperclassmen and will serve as mentors helping your student team identify an opportunity by developing a fictious product, structuring a business model, then delivering the perfect 5-minute pitch to a panel of industry experts. Real world collaboration, professional feedback and serious prize money:

$3,000 – First place
$2,000 – Second place
$1,000 – Third place
$500 – Fourth place

Previous Example: “Imagine and pitch a new IoT product with a marketing plan and financial projectionsâ€

ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app MSB Associate Dean Bob Greve will provide all the details of what goes into developing a product, identifying an audience and creating economic projections. Your team will then work together on the product, marketing plan and financial forecast for your pitch.

Individual and Team Registrations Welcome! 


Individuals are encouraged to come and experience the Pitch Competition! You will be placed on a team of 5 to compete.


There is no limit to the number of teams (comprising 5 members) that your organization can bring. Register your team(s) online at the link.

9 – 9:15 a.m. – Introduction to the Meinders School of Business (breakfast provided)

9:15 – 9:30 a.m. – Business student panel 

9:30 – 10 a.m. - Overview of Business Disciplines

Professors from Economics, Marketing, Management, Accounting, and Finance provide an overview of each business discipline within the context of a business pitch competition. 

10 a.m. – 11:30 p.m. – Teamwork

Students form teams and develop a business pitch during a working lunch (lunch provided). Professors and business students provide guidance/coaching as teams prepare business pitches. 

11:30 a.m. – Noon Lunch (provided)

Noon – 1 p.m. – Pitches

Teams present their pitch to faculty and deans from the Meinders School of Business. 

1 – 1:30 p.m. – Wrap Up

                Receive feedback, learn about ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app scholarships, receive ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app swag

1:30 p.m. Winners announced!

2 p.m. Optional tour of campus. Students dismissed for the day.
