Bass Music Center

Since opening in 2006, the $38.5-million, 113,000-square-foot Bass Music Center addition of the Bass School has hosted artists and educators from around the world, including the International Society of Bassists; the National Association of Teachers of Singing; the Society of Composers, Inc.; and the NEA-sponsored Arts Education Partnership. This world-class facility, built to the highest acoustical standards, features 60 practice rooms, 40 teaching studios, high-tech music labs, ensemble rehearsal rooms and a black box theater. The Bass Music Center is an unprecedented creative collaboration between musicians and acousticians, architects and network designers, craftsmen and visionaries. This joyful synergy created a place inspired by a dream: a dream to build the world's finest facility for teaching music. It is an inspiration built to inspire; a finely crafted instrument designed for students and faculty, beckoning them to grow beyond their imagination.

Kirkpatrick Fine Arts Center

The Kirkpatrick Fine Art Center houses the performance venues for the Wanda L. Bass School of Music, the School of the Theatre and the Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment. It the site of numerous music, theater and dance productions throughout the year. It includes a three-theater complex comprised of Kirkpatrick Auditorium (1,100 seats), Margaret E. Petree Recital Hall (500 seats) and Burg Auditorium (250 seats). The center also includes classrooms, a costume shop, scene shop, dressing rooms and four large dance studios. 

The legendary Kirkpatrick Auditorium was designed by architectural firm Layton Hicks & Forsyth, and constructed by JH Frederickson & Co. John A Brown (Chairman of Board), Eugene Mantrin (President), Building Committee: PT Stuart (chairman), EB Galloway, CSMC Creight, EDS Vaught in 1928. Kirkpatrick Auditorium is used for mainstage Opera, Musical Theatre, Theatre, and Dance Mainstage performances. Seating is separated into orchestra, rear orchestra (under balcony), and balcony.

Bishop W. Angie Smith Chapel 

The Bishop W. Angie Smith Chapel was purposely located between the academic and residential areas of the campus and bordering 23rd Street, and was named for Bishop W. Angie Smith who served as the Methodist Bishop of ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app and New Mexico from 1944-1968. Famed MIT architect Pietro Belluschi brought his extensive experience in designing churches to this signature structure. Reid and Associates, architectural firm, detailed the plans and supervised the construction.

The sanctuary seats up to 600 and boasts a enhanced by excellent acoustics. Apart from campus religious services and academic ceremonies, the chapel is often utilized for studio and chamber recitals and is home to ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app's organ studies. Learn more about the Bishop W. Angie Smith Chapel...
